Brick sizes and weights
Indian Standards Institution, New Delhi, has prescribed standard bricks measuring 19 cm x 9, 9 cm x 9, cm with 1 cm mortar joints. This makes bricks 20 cm x 10, 10 cm x 10. Brick tiles should measure 19 cm x 9cm x 4cm in size.
Although the minimum compressive strength for standard bricks has been set at 35 kg/sqc, other state PWDs have used different sizes. Below are a few examples:
Brick size in UP - 24 cm x 11.4cm x 7cm
Number of bricks per cubic metre in masonry: 476
In Punjab PWD : Brick size 23 cm x 11 cm x 7 cm
Number of bricks per cubic metre - 536
In Punjab Irrigation : Brick size 23 cm x 11 cm x 7 cm
560 bricks per cubic metre
Bricks should not be too large to be difficult to burn. They should also be light enough that the mason can lift it and place it without difficulty.
The brick's length should be equal to its width plus the thickness of the mortar joint.
Brick is regarded by professionals as one of the most eco-friendly building materials available.
What is brick and how does it get made? Bricks can be described as:
The most popular bricks are made from clay. Mix the clay with sand, then add water. The clay is then pressed into steel molds, heated to 1,000 degrees Celsius, and locked in its strength.

Average Brick Weights for Different Sizes
You will not find stacks of bricks that weigh the same as one another, despite masonry standards. You must use average brick weight.
Bricks have been used in construction for millennia. Much like today's bricks and mortar, the earliest bricks were made from clay. They were sometimes made of mud or straw in some cases. However, bricks were first used in mass construction after the Industrial Revolution. Brick was the preferred material in commercial buildings by the 1900s (source).
Bricks are similar to the average weights for different concrete blocks. They will differ in weight depending on their physical dimensions and the density variation in bricks of the exact same size.
What is the most common brick size?
According to research by The Brick Industry Association, the most popular brick size is 3 1/2'x2 1/4'x7 5/8'. This is what people picture when they think of "brick". It's rectangular in shape and fits in their hands.
However, this is only a guideline. It is unlikely that anyone will notice the difference in size between what Home Depot would sell as a standard concrete brick, for example: 7 3/4" x 2 114''x 3 3/4".

What Does a Brick Weight?
The brick type determines how much it weighs. There are over 100 types of bricks.
There are many types of bricks: engineering bricks and pavers; burnt clay bricks and hollow bricks; solid bricks and so on. However, weight is important for transporting bricks in a vehicle, building construction or carrying them. You need to be aware of the maximum weight your truck can hold if you are going to haul a load bricks.
What is the average weight of a red brick?
Ah, the red brick! It turns red after being baked in the oven. Due to its clay content, the bricks will turn a reddish-rust color when heated. Bricks can be dyed in different colors during manufacturing, but the most common color is the red brick.
A common red brick weighs in at 4.5 pounds. This is 2.04 kg or 2,041g.
This average weight equals one ton. 444.44 bricks equals 1. A pallet of 500 bricks this size will weigh 2,250 pounds.
These are just averages. You should note that brick weights can vary slightly depending on how they were constructed. This brick is an example.
