monitor calibration

Hello Pixelstation team,

I am currently taking part in the imaging school that is currently running in Munich. I want/need to learn more about color management. One step towards this, monitor calibration, raises a few questions for me.
a) Can you recommend systems other than the xrite i1 (spyder4)
b) I currently only have a newer 27″ iMac screen available. Does calibration using the xrite i1 or similar make sense at all given the minimal setting options on the monitor?
c) Can I use monitor calibration to set up two different monitors (iMac27″ and 24″ Dell) so that they display the colors correctly and in the same way?
